UN Women NCANZ and Zonta Wellington invited New Zealanders to be the first in the world to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019 by participating in a free livestream event. This event is now available to view on YouTube.
The breakfast event was held at Parliament, and hosted by the Hon Julie Anne Genter, Minister for Women. Keynote speakers were the Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand, and leading employment rights lawyer and Wellingtonian of the year, Steph Dyhrberg.
How we look after our children is how we look after our future.Hon Julie Anne Genter
A breakfast performance was given by singing trio, LeArt, from Porirua.
The theme for this year’s event was #WeToo, inspired by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s speech at the UN calling for equality:
“Me Too must become We Too – We are all in this together.”
